It's our anniversary! It's been 10 years since we in the pharmaceutical profession took a step forward. CisMED, Centre for Information on the Supply of Medicines, was launched:

Launched by the Spanish Pharmacy Representatives Bodies', CisMED is a collaborative digital tool used by more than 12,000 Spanish pharmacies.

Pharmacies themselves report shortages on a daily basis enabling real-time problem detection and making decisions to ensure continuity of care, because wherever there is a medicine, there should be a pharmacist.

We have been around for 10 years now, showing a significant evolution:
By 2017, 5,000 pharmacies were already connected, 2020, CisMED was instrumental during the pandemic in medicines management and by 2022 statistical machine learning techniques were implemented to improve its predictive capacity.

Today, CisMED is more user-friendly and powerful than ever.

Over the last year alone, 117 million pieces of data have been analysed, making it possible to anticipate, within weeks or even months, significant medicine shortages and raised the alarm on 285 medicines, acting before the shortage affected patients.

CisMED's impact goes beyond national borders as it sets the standard for a pan-European early warning system for shortages.

CisMED is much more than an analysis and prediction tool. CisMED stands for the commitment of thousands of pharmacists to anticipate difficulties.
